Should I post-date my patent application?
Post-dating moves your application to a later date. It can buy time, but it never lets you add new matter, and it can cost you priority.
Post-dating is not available after grant.
Lower complexity
- Section 17(1) and section 9(4) both apply only before grant.
- For changes to a granted patent, see the limits on amendment in section 59.
