What a refusal is, and what the realistic options are.
A reasoned refusal is appealable.
The Controller must give reasons and must hear you before refusing. A refusal order is a decision, which distinguishes it from abandonment.
- Read the order carefully - the grounds that survived are what an appeal has to address.
- Check whether a divisional was filed before the refusal; other family members may still be pending.
- Assess honestly whether the objection was answerable with the specification you filed. If the amendment you needed was never disclosed, an appeal may not help.
- Take advice on the appeal window promptly.
